Mojacar Playa can be found in the province of Almeria and could be described as undiscovered Spain. The area is renowned for its fantastic climate boasting over 320 sunny days a year. There is also a strict rule that no buildings are to be built over three floors and therefore the dramatic views are maintained throughout the resort.

As mentioned before the apartment is only a five minute walk away from the nearest restaurants. If you do not want to stay in and cook, you can choose between one of the many restaurants such as the Argentinean (best steaks we've ever had), Italian (overlooking the sea), Indian, Chinese, American (highly recommended), Mexican, British food and of course Spanish.
There is a large supermarket and shopping complex about five minutes drive along the beach front, although local shops can be reached by foot for that essential bottle of wine! Supermarkets are open from 9am until 8pm and other shops generally from 10am until 8pm (but some may stay open later in the summer) with a siesta between 2pm and 4pm.
The old village of Mojacar can be found about 8 minutes away via a scenic drive where fantastic views over the mountains can be seen. This is a pretty little village with cobbled streets and winding paths. There are quaint shops to browse around before stopping for lunch in one of its many cafes or restaurants.

The sandy beach itself is very wide with showers provided for your convenience. The beach stretches for many miles and parking is free. There is a pretty promenade to stroll along before relaxing in one of the taverniers to people watch or to just gaze out to sea whilst enjoying a cool drink. In addition there are children's play areas on the beachfront to keep them entertained. During the summer you can find funfairs and small market stalls. Drive along the coast away from the town and you can often find a bay to enjoy all to yourself.

Further up the coast is the town of Garrucha which is about a ten minute drive. Here you will be able to find numerous shops ranging from clothes to shoes and computers to ornaments. On a Friday there is a local market where lots of bargains can be found.
The town is still a working fish port and you will be able to buy fresh fish straight from the boats to cook for your dinner later in the evening. If however you prefer someone else to do all the hard work then reserve a table at one of the many fish restaurants that specialise in locally caught fresh fish.
The nearest golf course is Marina Golf which is about 6 minutes along the coast road. It is an 18 hole par 72 course. Other nearby courses are:-
